Goals of the Week[end] 18th March 2013

We’ve got a right treat in store for you Goals of the Week fans today including a cracking strike from Poland and two corking over-heads from the Scottish Premier League.

Let’s get cracking!

Shane Lowry

Millwall’s Australian left-back Shane Lowry finished off a 2-0 win against Charlton with this stunning 35 yard free-kick.

Diego Forlán

It just wouldn’t be GOTW without a goal from Diego, and the Uruguayan once again did not leave us disappointed with this freekick for Internacional’s second goal away at Canoas. International went on to win the game 3-1.

Bartłomieja Dudzica

In Poland, Arką Gdynia drew 1-1 with Cracovią, in a match lit up by this wonderful equalising strike from Bartłomieja Dudzica. I think my spellchecker just caught fire.

Luka Modrić

Mallorca looked to have angered Real Madrid and paid for it on Saturday evening. Having gone 1-0 and then 2-1 up against Madrid, Mallorca ended up on the end of a second half beating from Madrid in a match that ended 5-2 for Madrid. This strike from Modrić was the pick of the goals.

Leon Osman and Nikica Jelavić

Everton, down to 10 men after the sending-off of Steven Pienaar put another massive dent in Manchester City’s title hopes with a 2-0 win at Goodison Park. Both Everton goals were pretty special, Osman curled in a left foot strike in the 32nd minute before Jelavić finished off City in injury time.

Deportivo de La Coruña gave their La Liga survival hopes a boost by beating fellow strugglers Celta de Vigo 3-1. Silvio provided one of the goals with this strike in the 64th minute.

Georgios Samaras

Our first of two lovely overhead kicks from the Scottish Premier League, Celtic’s Greek striker and talisman Georgios Samaras scored this overhead winner as Celtic beat Aberdeen 4-3.

Kallum Higginbotham

Motherwell Kallum Higginbotham attacker will be pleased with this one, certainly one of the goals of his career so far and a contender for SPL goal of the season. Higginbotham latched onto the cross with a beauty of an over-head volley as Motherwell thrashed Hibernian 4-1 at Fir Park. We couldn’t bear to GIF this one as the build-up is pretty great too, so here it is on YouTube.
Kallum, you’re our Goal of the Week!
