Reasons why Evan Ferguson will join West Ham despite interest from Arsenal and Everton

West Ham United are desperate to sign a striker before the February 3 transfer deadline.

The Hammers have been dealing with injuries to Niclas Fullkrug, Jarrod Bowen and Michail Antonio, forcing Graham Potter to use Lucas Paqueta and Mohammed Kudus as centre-forwards.

West Ham made a bid worth £57 million for Jhon Duran, but that was turned down by Aston Villa.

The Irons are now eyeing a move for Brighton & Hove Albion ace Evan Ferguson, and we believe they have a great chance of acquiring his services in the January window

Reasons why Ferguson will join West Ham

The Irish footballer has emerged as one of the top talents in the Premier League in recent years. At such a young age, he has already made 79 appearances across all competitions for Brighton, registering 17 goals and five assists in the process.

However, the 2024-25 season hasn’t been great for Ferguson so far, as he has been limited to just two league starts due to his ankle issues.

According to The Athletic, the Seagulls are open to considering a loan exit for the 20-year-old if it suits all parties.

Apart from West Ham, Arsenal and Everton have also been credited with an interest in the talented forward (per Talksport).

But the Hammers have an advantage over the two Premier League sides, with Ferguson having worked before with Potter.

The English boss signed the player in 2021 during his stint at the Amex Stadium and handed him a debut for the club.

The two know each other very well, and so a reunion at the London Stadium looks very likely.

Arsenal are a bigger club than West Ham, but a loan move isn’t an option for them as they already have two loans on their books in Raheem Sterling and goalkeeper Neto.

Brighton are unlikely to sanction a permanent exit, unless they receive a huge transfer fee.

Everton also retain an interest in Ferguson, but they are not thought to be among the favourites for his signature.
